Letter from the Recruitment Chair
My name is Emma Marlow and I am the Recruitment Director for Sigma Sigma Sigma at Metropolitan State University of Denver. I have been an active member of the organization since fall of 2016, and time sure does fly! The most exciting things have happened to me while being apart of this sisterhood that have shaped who I am and what I want to strive for in school and for my community. We have marched for our national partner, March of Dimes, in the snow, -it was freezing but so heartwarming- met my closest and dearest friends, and have been empowered from so many of my sisters. Sigma offers so many opportunities to learn about your leadership skills, communication, time management, and much more that are essential before you graduate and head off to your new chapter!
I remember when I was first interested in Greek life, I always heard the same thing, “Greek life is just like the movies.” Here at MSUD, that is not the case! We are a zero tolerance hazing organization and since we are a commuter campus, the whole experience is different and unique, just like my sisters! The recruitment process includes events like information nights on who we are, what our philanthropies are, what we expect of each other, and what our values are. We invite anyone who want to commit to our bonds of sisterhood. Being nervous is normal, but know that all of us have been in your shoes, and look where we are today! My advice is to be yourself and to be open, we totally get that it is an overwhelming process but we are so excited to get to know you.
Becoming a sister means becoming a sister for life. This means coming to events that you are able to, seeking leadership, being inclusive, seeking new friendships with your sisters, and upholding the values that Tri Sigma women represent.
I cannot wait to meet you and introduce you to the women of Tri Sigma.
